Tokyo, April 6 2018 – Solar Frontier K.K., the world's largest provider of CIS solar energy solutions, announced that CEO Atsuhiko Hirano met with Director-General Adnan Z. Amin of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) at the Tokyo offices of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) on April 4. Mr. Amin was on an official visit to Japan from April 2 to April 6, where he had multiple meetings with government officials, visited several academic institutes and members of the energy-related business community, and was the keynote speaker at an international seminar on the topic of renewable energy diplomacy.

Mr. Hirano, who also represents the solar power industry in Japan through his role as the chairman of the Japan Photovoltaic Organization (JPEA), exchanged views with Mr. Amin on the topics of CO2 reduction, the importance of a stable energy supply, and the role that solar energy can play in meeting Japan's commitment to moving towards renewable energy as a main energy source.

Mr. Hirano said, "The government of Japan has stated that their aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26% in FY2030 compared to FY2013, and the current target is for renewable energy to have a share in Japan's energy mix of 22-24% as a main energy source. Within that energy source, solar energy is expected to play a leading role by leveraging its nature as a dispersed energy. In addition, the implementation of solar energy is actually being accelerated by technological innovation and value creation, such as the expansion of the self-consumption model"

Director-General Amin introduced some successful examples from other countries and stated that Japan has the capability to utilize its technology and expertise even more effectively for the implementation of renewable energy. He also emphasized that the emergence of renewable energy on a global scale is a significant trend that will trigger fundamental changes to our economies and societies.

Solar Frontier will continue to provide solar solutions by harnessing the power of the sun to make solar power more accessible and provide a cleaner, more comfortable life for all.
