Technology > Aurora Effect

Some CIS modules have a cloudy appearance. We call this the Aurora effect. It happens because, unlike many other CIS technologies, we have decided to replace cadmium in one part of the module (called the buffer layer) with a non-toxic material: zinc. The Aurora effect does not impact module performance and is generally less noticeable with distance or when the module is placed at an angle.
